What does cropping a PDF do?
Cropping adjusts the visible page area by trimming away margins, white space, or unwanted content around the edges without re-encoding the page content.
Will cropping reduce file size?
Cropping changes the visible area but does not necessarily reduce file size because the content remains in the file. Compress after cropping if you need a smaller file.
Can I crop all pages to the same dimensions?
Yes. You can apply the same crop rectangle to every page in the document, or set different crop areas for individual pages.
Is cropped content permanently deleted?
Content outside the crop box is hidden from view but may still be technically present in the PDF structure. To permanently remove hidden content, export or optimize the file after cropping.
When is cropping useful?
After scanning documents with excessive margins, when removing scanner bed edges, or when tidying pages for presentation and printing.
